The four names

Afrilingua, Aura, Padi and Gist all refer to different things. Please don't collapse them.

NameWhat it isUse it for
Afrilingua The app and platform. The thing the user installs. App Store listing, home-screen icon, permission prompts, company name (Afrilingua AI).
Aura The AI assistant inside Afrilingua. The product brand for everything intelligent. Product copy ("Aura just drafted that"), the desktop nervous system, the browser extension (Aura Companion), the VS Code participant (@aura), the sandbox (Aura Code).
Padi The persona and wake-word for Aura. West African Pidgin for friend. "Hey Padi", "Ask Padi", warm conversational copy. Never a separate product name.
Gist The social network inside Afrilingua. Federated on the AT Protocol. "Posted on Gist", "their Gist profile", "Gist DMs", handles like @you.afrilingua.ai.

Boilerplate descriptions

One line

Afrilingua is a personal platform with two halves — Aura, your AI assistant, and Gist, your federated social handle on the open web.

One paragraph

Afrilingua is a personal platform from Afrilingua AI that puts two things on every device you own: Aura, an AI assistant that quietly runs your calendar, email, code, music, smart home and finances; and Gist, a federated social network on the AT Protocol where your handle, posts and DMs are yours and portable. Same identity. Same memory. Same you.

Three paragraphs

Afrilingua is the app you install once and live inside. Beneath that single brand sit two products that share the same identity, the same personal knowledge graph and the same memory of you.

Aura is the assistant. It runs on mobile, web, desktop, your browser, your IDE and a hosted sandbox — eight surfaces, one mind. It speaks to your calendar, email, SMS, GitHub, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Spotify, Plaid, Flutterwave, Home Assistant, smart-home devices, your contacts, your files and your code. The voice and personality of Aura is Padi — West African Pidgin for friend.

Gist is the social half — a federated network on the AT Protocol, the same open protocol that powers Bluesky. Your handle is @you.afrilingua.ai, your posts and follows are portable, and the network you live on is the open one.

Naming dos and don'ts

DoDon't
"Afrilingua, the app, with Aura inside." "The Aura app." Aura is inside Afrilingua, not the app itself.
"Aura — your padi." "Aura Padi." There is no compound name.
"Hey Padi…" "The Padi app." There is no app called Padi.
"Posted on Gist." "Posted on Aura." Posts live on Gist; Aura helps draft.
